Colorless Design: Design Trends for 2021 (pt 6)

Over-inundated with intense emotions over the past year, people are seeking clean, uncomplicated communication. Colorless design draws audiences into your message and away from outside chaos. Minimalist black and white sketches, simple line animations, or comics without color are modest, but pure statement-making. Without the distractions of splashy shading, viewer attention is guided to content, and receives a calm landing.

Our concept art for Alaska the Last Frontier welcomes a warm sense of nostalgia. The black and white draft a meeting of two opposites. Black, which engulfs all colors, symbolizes authority and sophistication. Black can be seen as mysterious, yet holds certainty. While white, the absence of color, stands for illumination, purity, and new beginnings. White is cleansing, both literally and figuratively. Together, these shades create a clear picture, a concise message. A message unsullied by the unintended feelings colors provoke.
