The Sound of Color: Green
Often determined by wavelength, some research indicates color is more accurately calculated by frequency, a measure of sound. If sound reverberates color, how can this influence your creative?
According to renown artist Wassily Kandinsky, green sounds like the deep tones of a violin. Generally not perceived as a ‘loud’ or brash color, most shades of green evoke calm passivity. Described as soft and muffled, research finds green environments can subdue and offset sharp sounds. However, the impact of green increases with volume. Saturated, yellow-heavy greens are heard as shrill.
Fivestone’s map for Alaska The Last Frontier echo greens from olive to asparagus. Listen to the wind pick up as it whips down from the deep-hued mountain homestead to the pale, icy shoreline.
