There’s A Map For That (pt.8)
An homage to summer road trips, we’re exploring maps that keep you on the high road. Take the road less traveled with Topography Maps.
With screen locked data points, Fivestone used After Affects to draw line animations following the scale of the mountain. These contour lines reflect mountain slope grade: tighter lines represent a steeper angle, wider lines a more gradual pitch. Displaying peaks, valleys, ridges, vegetation, water bodies, and settlements, topographic maps uniquely illustrate 3D landscape in 2D. These maps direct a variety of disciplines from large-scale architecture, civil engineering and urban planning to geological pursuits of the Fish and Wildlife Services and Forest Service, along with aiding outdoor recreation.
